Nozawa Onsen has a wide variety of courses to suit all levels of skier and snowboarder - from gentle beginner slopes to challenging courses for more advanced riders.  From a summit of 1650 meters, a total of 20 courses make their way down to the village.
Skyline Course
スカイラインコース

Elevation: 565-1450 meters

3200 meter course with a 885 meter descent.  The first 300 meters are narrow and so care is needed.  Fairly steep slopes towards the bottom and so this is for intermediate to advanced skill level skiers and snowboarders.

Challenge Course
チャレンジコース

Elevation: 735-1075 meters

This course is as the name suggests with a steepest gradient of 39 degrees.  The course is 600 meters long with a 340 descent.  For intermediate to advanced skill level skiers and snowboarders.

Rinkan Course
林間コース

Elevation: 660-1075 meters

This course is a 5000 meters beginner level course and popular with families and groups.

Schneider Course
シュナイダーコース

Elevation: 700-1075 meters

A difficult course complete with moguls that will give most skiers and snowboarders a challenge.  The steepest point on this 1500 meter long slope is 32 degrees.

Yamabiko Gelende
やまびこゲレンデ

Elevation: 1366-1650 meters

Just 15 minutes or so from the village and you can be at the top of the Nozawa Onsen resort complete with incredible views of the surrounding mountain ranges.  A must on a clear day!

Uenotaira Gelende
上ノ平ゲレンデ

Elevation: 1220-1410 meters

This gentle and wide slope is popular with beginners and families.  A high elevation means that the snow conditions are usually excellent.

Karasawa Gelende
柄沢ゲレンデ

Elevation: 565-970 meters

At the lower part of the resort this area is the widest area.  It is a good place for beginners to learn and practice for ski pole racing.  Next to the Kawasawa car park and so very convenient.

Mukobayashi Gelende
向林ゲレンデ

Elevation: 600m-680 meters

Another course at the base of the mountain and also suitable for (and popular with) beginners and families.

Yutopia Gelende
ユートピアゲレンデ

Elevation: 680-900 meters

The top part of this slope doesn not get visited by the grooming machines.  That along with the steep slope makes this suitable for intermediate and advanced skill level skiers and snowboaders.

Paradise Gelende
パラダイスゲレンデ

Elevation: 565-970 meters

Suitable for beginners to intermediates, this wide slope is popular for carving skis.

Higake Gelende
