NOZAWA ONSEN SNOW RESORT

Nozawa Onsen, located in the northern part of Nagano Prefecture, is a hot spring and ski resort village of 5000 inhabitants. Renowned for it's onsen since the Edo period, the village also played a significant role in the history of skiing in Japan.

LIFT and Gondola

All charges in Japanese yen. A half day ticket is valid from either the resort opening time until 1pm or from 12pm until the daytime operations close. A 1.5 day ticket is valid from either 12pm until close + all day next day or 1 full day + opening time until 1pm on the following day.

COURSE DETAILS

Nozawa Onsen has a wide variety of courses to suit all levels of skier and snowboarder - from gentle beginner slopes to challenging courses for more advanced riders. From a summit of 1650 meters, a total of 20 courses make their way down to the village.

Skyline Course
Elevation: 565-1450 meters
3200 meter course with a 885 meter descent. The first 300 meters are narrow and so care is needed. Fairly steep slopes towards the bottom and so this is for intermediate to advanced skill level skiers and snowboarders.

Challenge Course
Elevation: 735-1075 meters
This course is as the name suggests with a steepest gradient of 39 degrees. The course is 600 meters long with a 340 descent. For intermediate to advanced skill level skiers and snowboarders.

Rinkan Course
Elevation: 660-1075 meters
This course is a 5000 meters beginner level course and popular with families and groups.

Schneider Course
Elevation: 700-1075 meters
A difficult course complete with moguls that will give most skiers and snowboarders a challenge. The steepest point on this 1500 meter long slope is 32 degrees.

Yamabiko Gelende
Elevation: 1366-1650 meters
Just 15 minutes or so from the village and you can be at the top of the Nozawa Onsen resort complete with incredible views of the surrounding mountain ranges. A must on a clear day!

Uenotaira Gelende
Elevation: 1220-1410 meters
This gentle and wide slope is popular with beginners and families. A high elevation means that the snow conditions are usually excellent.

Karasawa Gelende
Elevation: 565-970 meters
At the lower part of the resort this area is the widest area. It is a good place for beginners to learn and practice for ski pole racing. Next to the Kawasawa car park and so very convenient.

Yutopia Gelende
Elevation: 680-900 meters
The top part of this slope doesn not get visited by the grooming machines. That along with the steep slope makes this suitable for intermediate and advanced skill level skiers and snowboaders.

Paradise Gelende
Elevation: 565-970 meters
Suitable for beginners to intermediates, this wide slope is popular for carving skis.

Higake Gelende
Elevation: 660-790 meters
This might be considered as the main gelende of the Nozawa Onsen resort at the base of the mountain. As such here you will find many resort facilities such as ski school, ski center, child care and more.

Snow Park
Elevation: 735-1075 meters
This Snow Park has a number of items to enjoy including kicker, box, rail. This season also sees the opening of a Cross Course.
